A topographic map of Vancouver. Each layer represents 75 m of elevation. This map was particularly hard to design because the mountains to the north rise up so fast (over a 1000 m)! If I showed all these mountains on the map, then the city would look completely flat (which it definitely isn't). I opted to design the layers to emphasize the hills in the city itself (like Simon Fraser University) and draw in the contours for the mountains to the north. I hope you like it:)
Size: 17" x 23"
Layers of 1/8″ Baltic birch wood are laser-engraved and cut before being stained and joined. The ready-to-hang maps are encased in plexi-glass and a custom-made frame.
